Miss Maggie Mae

Yesterday was Happy National Dog Day 2019!

Until Mother’s Day this year, I was wavering as to whether or not to get another dog. Well … my daughter made up my mind for me … or truth be told, she gave me a precious one and a half pound ball of fluff.

We went back and forth over naming her, almost to the point of insanity. Since I am from Georgia, it seemed Georgia would be a great name but for some reason it just wasn’t fitting to her personality. (Hmm … what exactly is the personality of a Pomeranian named Georgia I really don’t know. But it wasn’t working.) We somehow ended up naming her Maggie Mae.

Everyone, and I do mean everyone loves her! Even her big, burly Vetinarian who claims he only likes big dogs. And the thing is you can’t help but love her! She is so tiny and wiggly when you hold her that she just wiggles herself right into your heart.

She’s grown to two and a half pounds since May, she loves to play fetch and she comes running when she hears the ice dispenser and will bark until you give her a cube of ice to chase around the house. She climbs on your shoulder to sit and she carries around a chew stick in her mouth like a cigar, reminding me of George Burns, which had I known that in the beginning I would have named her Georgia Burns!

Miss Maggie Mae has lots of toys with her favorites being a squeaky lamb and an Ole Miss Rebel miniature football. She also has her very own Barefoot Dreams blanket because after all, every baby needs a Barefoot Dreams blanket! She even has her very own Chewy Vitton purse!

Never in a million years did I ever think I’d be this Gaga over a pet. I have promised my family I will not turn her into a purse puppy or dress her in clothes.

I take her to doggie daycare once a week for socialization with other dogs but most of the time when I pick her up she’s wiggling in someone’s arms or asleep in the receptionist lap. I am told she receives lots of treats .. just because.

Miss Maggie has been featured on the daycares Facebook page sitting in a box with the heading “Good things come in small packages!”

Hard to believe how much I love this little dog. She is truly the best.

Happy National Dog Day to my Miss Maggie Mae!
